Decision details

Ashley Road and Marlborough Road, Altrincham

Decision Maker: Director of One Trafford Partnership

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

1)     That authorisation be given to introduce waiting restrictions on Ashley Road, Cavendish Road and Marlborough Road.

2)     That authorisation be given to advertise the intention to introduce the Traffic Regulation Order/s as detailed in the schedules to this report and that, if no objections are maintained the order be made and implemented in whole or in part, as soon as is practicable.

3)     That any objections maintained be reported back for consideration.

Reasons for the decision:

Many requests have been received from residents in the Ashley Road and Marlborough Road area of Altrincham regarding inconsiderate long stay parking which has been linked to workers in Altrincham town centre.

Ashley Road has an exceptionally wide footway which allows for one or even two vehicles to parallel park wholly on the footway. This is considered detrimental to road safety as it reduces visibility and causes an obstruction for other road users, particularly pedestrians, disabled persons and push chair users.

Results from the 2 informal consultations carried out show that residents are in favour of the introduction of waiting restrictions to deter this parking. It is therefore proposed to introduce ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ and ‘No Waiting Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm’ restrictions along sections of Ashley Road and Marlborough Road and modify the existing restrictions on Cavendish Road.
