Purpose:

Several requests have been received by the Council to manage the kerbside parking provisions in the Brooklands ward. The issues raised are related to congestion caused by commuter parking and parking at peak times close to Brooklands Primary School.

 

The Council proposes to introduce a series of waiting restrictions to manage congestion while improving traffic flow and ensure vehicles are parked in a safe manner. The measures include the introduction of no waiting at any time restrictions and other daytime no waiting restrictions.

Decision:

1.     That approval be given to the introduction and amendment of waiting restrictions in the Framingham Road area, George’s Road area, and Walton Road area, all in the Brooklands ward, as detailed within this report.

 

2.     That authorisation be given to advertise the intention to introduce the Traffic Regulation Order as detailed in the schedules to this report and that, if no objections are maintained, the order be made and implemented in whole or in part, as soon as is practicable.

 

3.     That any objections be reported to Members for consideration.

Reasons for the decision:

The Council has received representations regarding parking in the area and proposes to introduce restrictions in the interests of the effective management of the highway network.
