Fifth Avenue, Trafford Park - Proposed Amendments to Waiting Restrictions

Decision Maker: Corporate Director Place

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Following the opening of the ‘Amazon’ warehouse in Trafford Park, the Council has received several complaints about obstructive parking, particularly on Fifth Avenue. A second service access for the warehouse has now been brought into operation and this necessitates an amendment to the waiting restrictions currently in place, which has prompted a review of the restrictions along the full length of Fifth Avenue.

Decision:

1)     That authorisation be given to advertise the intention to introduce the Traffic Regulation Order as detailed in the schedule to this report and that, if no objections are maintained the Order be made and implemented in whole or in part.

2)     That any objections maintained be reported back for consideration.

Reasons for the decision:

Investigations have shown the existing parking bays on Fifth Avenue, that are marked to allow enforcement of ‘match day’ restrictions, being used for long stay parking. The parking, on both side of the road effectively narrows the carriageway to a single running lane, and this has led to conflicts when vehicles travelling in opposite direction meet head-on.

Alternative options considered:

None.

Interests and Nature of Interests Declared:

None.
