Obstructive Parking Problems on these roads have been raised as part of a review of parking and it is considered that the areas would benefit from the introduction/extension of waiting restrictions.

1.          That the introduction of the waiting restrictions on Irlam Road and Derwent Road, as shown on drawing numbers CO00201302-06a-P-RevA and CO00201302-06b-P-RevA, be approved.

2.     That formal consultation be carried out with nearby residents at each location and that any objections maintained be reported back for consideration.

3.     That authorisation be given to advertise the intention to introduce the Traffic Regulation Order as detailed in the Schedules to this report, and that if no objections are maintained, the Order be made and implemented in whole or in part.

Introducing the proposed ‘Waiting Restrictions’ on the sections of road identified in this report and shown on drawing numbers CO00201302-06a-P-RevA and CO00201302-06b-P-RevA will improve pedestrian safety, the free flow of traffic and access for essential service vehicles. 

The proposals were subject to an informal consultation with frontages, and comments were received requesting a reduction in the length of restrictions by 6 metres on the south side of Derwent Road. This minor change has been incorporated into the proposals and it is considered that the scheme proposed is the most appropriate to solve the problems of access and visibility on and around the junctions identified in the report.
