To receive and if so determined, to approve as a correct record the Minutes of the meeting held on 25^th October 2018.

RESOLVED: That the minutes of the Public Protection Sub-Committee meeting held on 25^th October be approved as a correct record and signed by the Chair.

Motion (Which may be amended as Members think fit):

That the public be excluded from this meeting during consideration of the remaining items on the agenda, because of the likelihood of disclosure of “exempt information” which falls within one or more descriptive category or categories of the Local Government Act 1972, Schedule 12A, as amended by The Local Government (Access to Information) (Variation) Order 2006, and specified on the agenda item or report relating to each such item respectively.

RESOLVED: That the public be excluded from this meeting during consideration of the following items on the agenda because of the likelihood of disclosure of “exempt information” which falls within one or more descriptive category or categories of the Local Government Act 1972, Schedule 12A, as specified.

To consider a report of the Head of Regulatory Services.

The Head of Regulatory Services submitted a report requesting Members to consider the conduct of a driver on 23^rd November 2017.

The driver did not attend the meeting; however the Sub-Committee decided to consider the matter in his absence as he had been given ample opportunity to attend the meeting.

The Sub-Committee considered the report and the seriousness of the offence and determined that he was no longer a fit and proper person to hold a Hackney Carriage driver’s licence.

RESOLVED: That Mr M. E’s Hackney Carriage driver’s licence be revoked.

(Note: The Chair allowed the following item of urgent business as the driver’s private hire licence expired on 30^th November 2018.)

Application for the renewal of a private hire driver’s licence

The Head of Regulatory Services submitted a report requesting Members to consider an application for the renewal of a Private Hire driver’s licence.

The driver attended the meeting to allow Members to give the matter their full consideration.

The driver gave his version of the incidents and answered questions from the Sub-Committee.

            RESOLVED:-

(1)          That Mr S. A’s Private Hire driver’s licence be renewed.

(2)          That if Mr S. A commits any further offences up to 17 July 2021 then he is brought back to the Sub-Committee.
