[Note:  Councillor Whetton declared a Personal Interest in this item as Mrs. Stephanie Poole, a representor, was known to him being a former Councillor.]

 

The Head of Regulatory Services submitted a report advising Members of an application received from The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of St. Peter, Hale for the grant of a new Premises Licence for St. Peter’s Church on Ashley Road in Hale, Altrincham WA15 9SS.  The application had attracted representations from a local resident and Councillor Mrs. Patricia Young, the representation from Councillor Mrs. Patricia Young was subsequently withdrawn.

 

The parties present at the hearing were invited to address the Sub-Committee.

 

Representations were made on behalf of the applicant by Rebecca Ingram, a Solicitor at Kuit Steinart Levy LLP.

 

The Sub-Committee noted the absence of the objector and made comment that their objections carried less weight in this circumstance.

 

        RESOLVED –

 

(1)    That the application by The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of St Peter, Hale for a Premises Licence for St. Peter’s Church, Ashley Road, Hale, Altrincham WA15 9SS, be granted, subject to compliance with the conditions outlined in the decision notice.

 

(2)    That the issue of the Licence be delegated to the Head of Regulatory Services.

LICENSING SUB-COMMITTEE’S REASONS FOR REACHING ITS DECISION

 

The Sub-Committee considered the Licensing Act 2003 and regulations, the Guidance and the Council’s Licensing Policy and the application.

 

The Sub-Committee considered the written representation received from a local resident.

 

The Sub-Committee considered the residents’ concerns regarding public nuisance and balanced those concerns with the interests of the applicant and the licensing objectives.
