Barton Road Area, Stretford - Proposed Waiting Restrictions

Decision Maker: Corporate Director Place

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

1. That authorisation be given to advertise the intention to introduce the Traffic Regulation Order as detailed in the Schedule to the report and that, if no objections are maintained, the Order be made and implemented in whole or in part, as soon as is practicable.

2. That any objections maintained be reported back for consideration.

Reasons for the decision:

The Council has been contacted by residents concerned with inconsiderate parking in the limited waiting bays outside the shops on Barton Road and around the junctions in the vicinity leading to congestion and safety issues. The proposal seeks to introduce new restrictions in the parking bay including making sections of the bay unrestrictive to help with congestion. ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restrictions in the form of junction protection and along the narrow Baslow Road are also proposed to improve pedestrian access and visibility for all road users.

Alternative options considered:

The alternative, not to amend the current limited waiting bays and introduce the proposed junction protection, would mean the congestion and safety issues would continue.
