Mersey Road Area, Sale - Proposed Residents' Permit Parking Scheme and Associated New and Amended Waiting and Loading/Unloading Restrictions

Decision Maker: Director of One Trafford Partnership

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

1.     That authorisation be given to advertise the intention to introduce the Traffic Regulation Order as detailed in the Schedule to this report and that, if no objections are maintained, the Order be made and implemented in whole or in part, as soon as is practicable.

2.     That any objections maintained be reported back for consideration.

Reasons for the decision:

The Council has been contacted by residents and Ward Members who have requested that consideration be given to the introduction of a residents’ parking scheme and additional waiting and loading restrictions in the Mersey Road area, Sale.

Typically, residential roads to the west of Cross Street are experiencing high levels of long stay parking demand from employees of businesses in this locality and from shoppers visiting the retail area in and around Cross Street.

The proposal seeks to introduce a residents’ permit parking scheme and additional waiting and loading/unloading restrictions in the Mersey Road area. Additionally, to ensure traffic can freely flow along these residential roads and to maintain access for essential service vehicles and refuse vehicles etc. additional restrictions of no waiting and no loading/unloading at any time are also proposed.

It is recommended, in the interest of residential amenity, and to ensure traffic can flow freely along these residential roads and to maintain access for essential service vehicles, i.e. refuse vehicles, to advertise the proposed Traffic Regulation Order.
