The Council has been contacted by residents concerned with parking at the junctions of Thorley Lane/Granville Road, Quarrymans View/Stockport Road and Warburton Way/Stockport Road, Timperley. Furthermore, concerns have been raised with on-street parking along Thorley Lane between its junction with Granville Road and Stockport Road and the consequent reduction in effective carriageway width leading to congestion.

The proposal seeks to introduce ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ restrictions in the form of junction protection at the junctions referred to above, to deter the reported parking issues and to improve pedestrian access and visibility for all road users. Additionally, the proposal seeks to introduce a bus stop clearway and “No Waiting Mon–Sat 8am-6pm” restrictions along Thorley Lane between its junctions with Granville Road and Stockport Road mainly on the eastern side to alleviate the reported parking issues and to improve traffic flow along Thorley Lane.

The formal consultation took place on 23 November 2022 and 1 objection was received. Having considered the objection received, approval is sought to introduce the scheme.

1)   That the results of the consultation and objections received be noted.

2)   That following careful consideration of the objections and comments received, authorisation be given to make and implement the Order as advertised and shown on drawing number E9212 (01, 03 and 04) and in the schedule contained within the report.

3)   That the objectors be informed of the decision made.

To introduce waiting restrictions, in the interests of highway safety and to discourage obstruction of the highway.

Not progressing the proposals would be detrimental to road safety.
