REPORT REGARDING THE SPORTS GROUNDS SAFETY AUTHORITY MONITORING OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND GROUNDS - OVERVIEW OF SAFETY CERTIFICATION REVIEW pdf icon PDF 76 KB

To approve a report of the Director of Environment.

Minutes:

 

The Director of Environment submitted a report informing the Sub-Committee of the review undertaken by the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) of 30 General Safety Certificates issued by local authorities. The SGSA had produced guidance in May 2013 based upon the review findings and require that their recommended conditions be considered as part of the next annual review of safety certification.

 

RESOLVED: That the re-issue of the General Safety Certificates for Manchester United Football Club and Altrincham Association Football Club should be subject to the consideration of attaching the recommended conditions of the SGSA.

The Director of Environment submitted a report presenting the Annual Safety Report for Manchester United Football Club and requesting the issue of a new General Safety Certificate complying with the recommendations of the Sports Ground Safety Authority.

 

RESOLVED –

 

(1)        That the report be noted and the General Safety Certificate be re-issued.

 

(2)        That the Sub-Committee note that Manchester United Football Club wished to place on record its thanks to its partners, namely Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Service, St. John Ambulance Service and the Council, for their valuable assistance, guidance and support throughout the 2012/13 season.

The Director of Environment submitted a report on Lancashire County Cricket Club’s application to increase the seating capacity of their ground to cover a maximum limit of 26,000 for the above matches.
