Hermitage Rd is a narrow residential street populated by a significant number of families with young children. Despite the presence of traffic calming in the form of speed bumps, the road is frequently used as a high speed ‘rat run’ between Hale Rd and Grove Lane. This practice creates a risk of collision with pedestrians or other vehicles, as well as reducing the air quality in the area.

We would like the council to introduce a 20mph speed restriction to Hermitage Rd, whilst also considering the need for similar restrictions on surrounding streets. We would also encourage consideration of the introduction of modal filters at one end of Hermitage Rd, to prevent its use as a rat run.
