Traffic Calming and Pedestrianisation - Ashley Road, Hale Village

We the undersigned petition the Council to Introduce traffic calming measures from the top of Ashley Road at the junction with Stamford Road through to Bankhall Road, with pedestrianisation of the village area.

Currently, there is a danger to children, the elderly and other vulnerable people due to the speed at which certain people drive their high powered cars down what is a predominately residential road. The roaring noise that these super cars cause when driving down the road also causes disruption to businesses and is a nuisance to residents. Not only would traffic calming help mitigate the noise, but it would also add to the cafe culture in Hale Village through the promotion of alfresco dining. Pedestrianisation would benefit local businesses and help reinvigorate the village which is suffering from the closure of local businesses and empty shops. Local schools in the area would support the traffic calming measures. Both the traffic calming and pedestrianisation would add to the village feel of Hale.
