Booth Road Area, Altrincham - Proposed Traffic Management Measures

As this predominantly residential area, north of the A56, is within walking distance of Altrincham town centre, concerns have been raised that it attracts all day parking by commuters. There are historic existing parking restrictions on Grey Road, Booth Road, Hartley Road and Wainwright Road.

However, Highgate Road and Gorsey Lane are also very busy cut through routes between the A56 and Oldfield Road, especially at peak times. The roads in the area are quite narrow therefore it is felt that further restrictions are needed in order to prevent double parking. This is particularly important as Highgate Road and Grey Road form part of a school bus route and Oldfield Road forms part of a local bus route.

It is also felt that additional junctions within the area will require junction protection markings in the form of double yellow lines. This is to protect access and visibility for all road users at the junctions. Therefore, it is proposed that several existing restrictions be extended, and some new restrictions introduced.

The proposed restrictions will improve access and visibility for all road users.
